ABBA is a Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm in 1972 by Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. They rose to global fame after winning the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with “Waterloo” and went on to release a string of chart-topping singles and albums through the 1970s and early 1980s. Their sound blends melodic pop, Europop and disco with sophisticated vocal harmonies and studio production. Major releases include the albums Arrival (1976), The Album (1977), Voulez-Vous (1979) and Super Trouper (1980). The band split in 1982 but their catalog has remained continuously popular; a new studio album, Voyage, appeared in 2021 alongside a virtual-residency show in London. ABBA have sold hundreds of millions of records and are one of the best-selling music acts of all time.
