Bio

Fryderyk Chopin was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic era, born in 1810 near Warsaw. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers for the piano, with a catalogue dominated by solo piano works including nocturnes, études, preludes, mazurkas, and polonaises. Chopin left Poland at age 20 and spent most of his adult life in Paris, where he became a central figure in the Romantic movement and associated with leading artists and writers of the day. His music is characterized by lyrical melodies, innovative harmonies, and deep nationalistic elements drawn from Polish folk traditions. Despite fragile health, he maintained an active concert and teaching career until his death in 1849 at age 39. His works remain cornerstones of the classical piano repertoire and are performed worldwide.
