Waxahatchee is the musical project of American singer-songwriter Kathryn Crutchfield, born January 4, 1989, in Birmingham, Alabama. Emerging in the early 2010s, she initially gained recognition for her raw, lo-fi recordings that blended elements of alt-country, indie rock, and folk. Over time, her sound evolved toward more polished production while retaining introspective songwriting rooted in personal experience. Crutchfield has released several critically regarded albums, including American Weekend, Cerulean Salt, Out in the Storm, and Saint Cloud, each marking a progression in both her sonic palette and thematic depth.
