Bio
Satoshi Tomiie is a Japanese DJ and producer born in Tokyo in 1966. He emerged in the late 1980s as a key figure in the city's burgeoning house-music scene and became one of the first Japanese artists to gain international recognition in the genre. Early collaborations with Frankie Knuckles, including co-production of the 1989 club classic "Tears," helped establish his reputation in Chicago and New York. Over the following decades he released influential EPs and albums on imprints such as FFRR, Abstract Architecture and his own SAW Recordings, moving fluidly between deep house, acid-tinged grooves and atmospheric dub techno. Beyond the studio, Tomiie has maintained a long-running career as a globe-trotting DJ, holding residencies at venues like New York's Club Shelter and appearing regularly at major festivals. His work continues to bridge the classic Chicago sound with contemporary electronic aesthetics.
