Jonathan Cohen (born 17 November 1977) is a British conductor, cellist and keyboardist known for his work in both baroque and contemporary classical music. Born in Manchester, he has established himself as a versatile musician equally at home leading period-instrument ensembles and modern orchestras. Cohen studied at the University of Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Music, where he developed his skills as a cellist and keyboard player before turning to conducting. He has collaborated with leading ensembles such as the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Arcangelo, which he founded in 2010, and has appeared as a guest conductor with major orchestras across Europe and North America. His repertoire spans from baroque masterpieces to 20th- and 21st-century works, including minimalism and contemporary concertos. Cohen is noted for his imaginative programming and his ability to bring historical performance practices to a wide range of repertoire, earning acclaim for both his recordings and live performances.
