Paul McCreesh is a British conductor born in London in 1960. He is known for his work in early music and baroque repertoire, with a particular focus on choral and orchestral performances informed by historical performance practice. He founded the Gabrieli Consort & Players in 1982, an ensemble that has become recognized for its interpretations of Renaissance and Baroque music. McCreesh has recorded extensively with the group for labels including Deutsche Grammophon and Signum Classics. His discography includes performances of works by composers such as Bach, Handel, and Purcell, often featuring period instruments and historically informed vocal techniques. He has also conducted modern symphony orchestras in both concert and recording settings.
