Frankie Knuckles was an American DJ, record producer, and remixer widely recognized as the "Godfather of House Music." Born in the Bronx, New York, he began his career in the 1970s as a protégé of Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage before moving to Chicago in 1977. There, he became the resident DJ at the Warehouse club, where his extended sets helped define the emerging Chicago house sound. Knuckles played a pivotal role in popularizing house music globally, producing seminal tracks such as "Your Love" and "The Whistle Song." He received a Grammy Award for Remixer of the Year in 1997 and was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2004. His influence extended through his work at Def Mix Productions and his long-running residencies at clubs like the Power Plant and Sound Factory. Knuckles passed away in 2014, leaving a lasting legacy as one of electronic music's most influential figures.
