Musical Youth was a British reggae group formed in Birmingham in 1979. The band consisted of five teenage members, including brothers Michael and Kelvin Grant, and achieved international success with their 1982 single "Pass the Dutchie," a reworking of Mighty Diamonds' "Pass the Kouchie." The track reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and became a worldwide hit, introducing reggae to a new generation of listeners. The group released their debut album The Youth of Today in 1982, which also charted in the UK. They followed with Different Style! in 1983 before disbanding in the mid-1980s. Their brief but impactful career helped bridge reggae music with mainstream pop audiences during the early 1980s.
