Bio
Orchestre National de l'O.R.T.F. was the official radio and television orchestra of French public broadcasting, active from 1964 to 1974. Formed after the reorganization of French national broadcasting, it succeeded the Orchestre National de la Radiodiffusion Française and performed a wide repertoire of classical and contemporary music. Under conductors including Jean Martinon, the ensemble gave numerous premieres and made studio recordings for French Radio. It was dissolved in 1974 when the O.R.T.F. was restructured, with its members forming the basis of the new Orchestre National de France.
