Bio

Quincy Jones (1933–2024) was an American composer, arranger, and producer whose career spanned seven decades. Born in Chicago, he began as a jazz trumpeter and arranger before becoming one of the most influential figures in popular music, working with artists from Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson. Jones produced Michael Jackson’s Thriller, the best-selling album of all time, and composed iconic film and television scores including The Color Purple and the theme for Sanford and Son. He also founded Qwest Records and the Quincy Jones Foundation, supporting music education and humanitarian causes worldwide.
