Bio
Bloc Party is an English indie rock band formed in Reading in 1999. The group rose to prominence in the mid-2000s with their debut album Silent Alarm, which blended post-punk revival sounds with danceable rhythms and politically charged lyrics. Their follow-up A Weekend in the City and subsequent releases further established their reputation for angular guitar work and introspective songwriting. Over the years the band has undergone several lineup changes while maintaining a core creative partnership between vocalist-guitarist Kele Okereke and guitarist Russell Lissack.
