Bio

The Fall were an English post-punk band formed in Prestwich, Greater Manchester in 1976 by Mark E. Smith. Over four decades the group released more than thirty studio albums, maintaining a fiercely independent stance and a constantly shifting line-up that revolved around Smith’s distinctive vocals and lyrics. Their sound blended punk energy with experimental and repetitive structures, drawing from rockabilly, krautrock and garage rock. Early singles such as “Bingo-Master” and albums like “Live at the Witch Trials” and “Dragnet” established their reputation, while later works such as “This Nation’s Saving Grace” and “The Wonderful and Frightening World of…” broadened their influence. Despite numerous personnel changes, The Fall remained a prolific live act and a touchstone for successive generations of musicians until Smith’s death in 2018.
