Murphy Lee is an American rapper from Granite City, Illinois, best known as a founding member of the St. Louis-based hip-hop group St. Lunatics. Born on December 18, 1978, he rose to prominence in the early 2000s alongside Nelly, Ali, Kyjuan, and City Spud. The group’s debut album, Free City, helped establish the St. Louis sound in mainstream hip-hop. As a solo artist, Murphy Lee released his debut album Murphy’s Law in 2003, which featured the hit single "Shake Ya Tailfeather" with Nelly and Diddy. The track reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy nomination. His style blends Midwestern rap with catchy hooks and party-oriented lyrics, contributing to the broader popularity of St. Louis hip-hop during that era.
