Bio

Al Jarreau (1940–2017) was an American singer-songwriter celebrated for his distinctive voice and genre-spanning career. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he began performing in local clubs while studying psychology before moving to Los Angeles, where he gained national attention with the 1976 album Glow and the hit single "We’re in This Love Together." Over four decades, Jarreau earned seven Grammy Awards across jazz, pop, and R&B categories, becoming the only artist to win in all three fields. His smooth vocal style and scat singing influenced generations of vocalists, while albums such as Breakin’ Away and collaborations with producers like Jay Graydon solidified his commercial success. Beyond recordings, Jarreau maintained an active touring schedule and served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, using his platform to advocate for children’s education and health worldwide until his death in 2017.
