Bio
Midori Gotō is a Japanese-born American violinist renowned for her technical brilliance and expressive interpretations of the classical repertoire. Born in Osaka in 1971, she made her international debut at age 11 with the New York Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta, quickly establishing herself as a prodigy. She has since performed with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors, and her recordings of concertos by Beethoven, Sibelius, and Bartók are widely acclaimed. Beyond the concert stage, Midori is a dedicated educator and humanitarian. She founded several outreach programs that bring classical music to underserved communities and has served on the faculties of major conservatories. Her commitment to both artistic excellence and social engagement has earned her numerous honors, including the Avery Fisher Prize and the Kennedy Center Honors.
