Bio

Duane Eddy was an American guitarist whose signature "twangy" sound, created by playing melody lines on the bass strings of his guitar, helped define the instrumental rock and rockabilly genres of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Born in Corning, New York, he grew up in Arizona and began recording in Phoenix, where his 1958 single "Rebel-'Rouser" became a major hit and established his distinctive style. Over a career spanning more than six decades, Eddy released numerous instrumental albums and singles, collaborating with producers like Lee Hazlewood and working with artists ranging from The Beach Boys to Art of Noise. His influence on guitarists and the surf rock movement earned him induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
