Sturgill Simpson is an American country singer and songwriter known for blending traditional country with rock, bluegrass, and psychedelic influences. Born in Jackson, Kentucky, he rose to prominence with his 2013 album High Top Mountain and gained wider recognition with Metamodern Sounds in Country Music (2014). His work often explores themes of personal struggle, spirituality, and social issues, earning him multiple Grammy Awards and critical acclaim. Simpson has released several acclaimed albums, including A Sailor’s Guide to Earth (2016), which won the Grammy for Best Country Album, and Sound & Fury (2019), a concept album accompanied by an anime film. In addition to his music career, he has appeared in films such as The Hunt (2020) and has been noted for his distinctive baritone voice and genre-defying approach to country music.
