Orishas is a Cuban hip hop group formed in Havana in 1999. The group blends traditional Cuban son with contemporary hip hop and Latin rhythms, creating a distinctive sound that helped popularize Cuban rap internationally. Originally consisting of Ruzzo, Roldán, and Yotuel, Orishas gained recognition with their debut album A Lo Cubano in 2000. Their music often addresses social and political themes while celebrating Cuban culture and identity. The group went on hiatus around 2010 after releasing several successful albums, though members have pursued individual projects and occasional reunions.
