Bio
Maurice André (1933–2012) was a French trumpeter renowned for his virtuosic technique and extensive recordings of Baroque and Classical trumpet repertoire. Born in Alès, France, he rose to prominence in the 1960s and became one of the most recorded classical trumpeters of the twentieth century, championing works by Bach, Telemann, and Vivaldi. André performed as soloist with leading orchestras worldwide and taught at the Paris Conservatory, influencing generations of brass players. His clear, brilliant tone and agility helped redefine the modern trumpet sound in early-music performance.
