Bio

DeBarge was an American R&B and soul group formed in Detroit in 1979. The family act, featuring siblings Bunny, Randy, Mark, El, and James DeBarge, rose to prominence in the early 1980s with a smooth, quiet-storm sound that blended lush harmonies and romantic ballads. Their breakthrough came with the 1982 album All This Love, which spawned hits such as "I Like It" and the title track. Subsequent releases like In a Special Way (1983) and Rhythm of the Night (1985) produced further successes including "Love Me in a Special Way" and the title track "Rhythm of the Night," cementing their place in 1980s R&B. Although the group officially disbanded in 1989, their catalog continues to influence later generations of R&B artists and remains a staple of quiet-storm radio playlists.
