Bio
Beastie Boys are an American hip hop trio formed in New York City in 1981. Originally a hardcore punk band, they transitioned into hip hop with their 1986 debut album Licensed to Ill, which became the first rap album to top the Billboard 200. The group is known for blending rap with rock, funk, and punk influences, and for their playful, irreverent lyrical style. Over their career, they released several influential albums including Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head, and Ill Communication, establishing themselves as pioneers in alternative hip hop.
