Rufus Wainwright is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter and composer known for his lush, theatrical style and classical influences. Born in Rhinebeck, New York, in 1973, he grew up in a musical family—his father is folk musician Loudon Wainwright III and his mother is singer-songwriter Kate McGarrigle.
