Fatoumata Diawara is a Malian singer-songwriter and actress born in 1982. She began her career as a dancer with the renowned Royal Ballet of Mali before transitioning to music, blending traditional Wassoulou styles with contemporary influences. Her debut album "Kanou" (2011) brought international attention, followed by "Fatou" (2011) and "Fenfo" (2018), which showcased her distinctive voice and socially conscious lyrics addressing women's rights and cultural identity. She has collaborated with artists such as Herbie Hancock, Bobby Womack, and the Afro-Cuban All Stars, establishing herself as a leading figure in modern African music.
