Omara Portuondo

Omara Portuondo is a Cuban singer and dancer born in Havana in 1930. She began her career in the 1940s as a dancer at the Tropicana Club and later gained recognition as a vocalist with the vocal group Cuarteto d'Aida. Portuondo is known for her interpretations of boleros, son cubano, and other traditional Cuban styles. She became internationally recognized as a member of the Buena Vista Social Club project in the late 1990s. Her career spans over seven decades, during which she has recorded numerous albums and collaborated with prominent Cuban and international musicians.
