Philip Bailey is an American singer, songwriter and percussionist from Denver, Colorado. He rose to prominence as the high tenor and falsetto voice of Earth, Wind & Fire, contributing to the band’s signature sound on hits such as “Shining Star,” “Reasons” and “September.” Bailey launched a solo career in the 1980s, scoring a major pop hit with Phil Collins on the 1984 duet “Easy Lover.” His solo work spans R&B, soul, gospel and jazz fusion, and he has released albums including Chinese Wall and Soul on Jazz. Bailey remains active with Earth, Wind & Fire and has collaborated with artists across multiple genres throughout a five-decade career.
