Bio
Steve Harley (1951–2024) was an English singer-songwriter best known as the frontman of the glam-rock band Cockney Rebel. Born Stephen Malcolm Ronald Nice in Deptford, London, he formed the group in 1972 and scored a UK number-one hit in 1975 with the single “Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me).” After the band’s initial split, Harley pursued a solo career that spanned more than four decades, releasing albums such as Hobo with a Grin (1978) and The Candidate (1979) while continuing to tour with various line-ups of Cockney Rebel.
