Carlo Savina

Bio

Carlo Savina (1919–2002) was an Italian composer, conductor and arranger born in Turin. He studied violin and composition at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan and began his career as a violinist and arranger for Italian radio orchestras. Savina became one of Italy’s most prolific film-music conductors, working on more than 200 soundtracks. He frequently collaborated with composers such as Ennio Morricone, Armando Trovajoli and Piero Piccioni, and conducted the scores for films including The Godfather Part II and several Sergio Leone westerns. Beyond cinema, he composed original music for television, ballet and light-orchestra recordings, leaving a substantial catalog that spans jazz-inflected easy listening to fully orchestral film scores.
