Bio
Les Arts Florissants is a French ensemble specializing in Baroque music, founded in 1979 by harpsichordist William Christie. The group takes its name from an opera by Marc-Antoine Charpentier and is renowned for its historically informed performances of 17th- and 18th-century French repertoire. Based in France, the ensemble performs both vocal and instrumental works, often collaborating with leading soloists and staging operas at major venues worldwide. Its recordings have contributed significantly to the revival of interest in French Baroque composers such as Charpentier, Lully, and Rameau.
