Janelle Monáe is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, and actress born in Kansas City, Kansas, on December 1, 1985. She first gained attention with her 2007 EP Metropolis: Suite I (The Chase) and rose to wider prominence with her 2010 debut album The ArchAndroid, which earned critical acclaim for its conceptual storytelling and genre-blending sound. Known for her distinctive fashion style and socially conscious lyrics, Monáe has released albums such as The Electric Lady (2013) and Dirty Computer (2018), the latter accompanied by an Emmy-nominated visual album. She has also appeared in films including Hidden Figures and Moonlight, and continues to explore themes of identity, technology, and liberation across her music and acting work.
