Bio
Totó La Momposina is a Colombian singer and performer born in 1948 in the Bolívar region. She is widely recognized for her work in cumbia and traditional Latin folk music, drawing on the rich musical heritage of Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Throughout her career she has preserved and popularized Afro-Colombian and indigenous rhythms, becoming one of the most respected voices in Latin folklore. Her recordings and live performances have introduced international audiences to the sounds of gaita, porro, and other regional styles.
