Horacio Hernández (born April 24, 1963) is a Cuban drummer and percussionist widely known by the nickname "El Negro." Born in Havana, he is recognized for his mastery of Afro-Cuban rhythms and his ability to fuse traditional Cuban percussion with jazz and fusion styles. Hernández has performed and recorded with numerous prominent jazz and Latin artists, bringing his distinctive rhythmic approach to both studio sessions and live performances. His work spans genres including Afro-Cuban jazz, jazz fusion, and Latin jazz, establishing him as an influential figure in contemporary percussion.
