Andrea Falconieri

Andrea Falconieri (c. 1585/1586–1656) was an Italian composer, lutenist, and guitarist active in Naples during the early Baroque period. He served as maestro di cappella at the Spanish royal chapel in Naples and contributed significantly to the development of instrumental music in southern Italy. His surviving works include numerous canzonas, sinfonias, and dance pieces for various instrumental combinations, many of which were published in collections such as "Il quinto libro de varie sonate" (1650). Falconieri's compositions reflect the transition from Renaissance to Baroque styles, incorporating both polyphonic textures and emerging monodic elements.
