Bio
Player is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1977. The group is best known for their 1977 hit single "Baby Come Back," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Their sound is characterized by smooth, melodic rock arrangements typical of the yacht rock genre. The band was founded by guitarist-vocalist John Crowley, guitarist-vocalist Peter Beckett, and drummer John Friesen. After the success of their debut album, Player released several follow-up records throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, maintaining a presence in the adult contemporary and soft rock scenes.
