Bio
Michael Kamen (1948–2003) was an American composer, conductor, and arranger best known for his film scores. Born in New York City, he studied oboe and composition at Juilliard before moving into film and television work in the 1970s. Kamen scored more than seventy films, including the Lethal Weapon series, Die Hard, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and the three-part X-Men trilogy. His orchestral style often blended classical influences with contemporary pop and rock elements, and he collaborated with artists such as Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, and Metallica. Beyond cinema, he composed concert works, ballet scores, and music for television. Kamen received numerous awards, including a Grammy, an Emmy, and multiple Golden Globe nominations, and his contributions helped bridge the gap between symphonic music and popular film soundtracks.
