Jimmy Cliff is a Jamaican ska, rocksteady, reggae and soul musician born on 30 July 1944 in Adelphi, Jamaica. He rose to prominence in the 1960s with hits such as "Miss Jamaica" and "Hurricane Hattie," establishing himself as one of the earliest international stars of Jamaican music. Cliff's breakthrough came with the 1972 film The Harder They Come, in which he starred and contributed the soundtrack, featuring his signature song "The Harder They Come." Throughout his career, he has released numerous albums blending reggae, rocksteady, and soul, and remains one of the most influential figures in Jamaican music history.
