Bio
Václav Luks is a Czech conductor and horn player specializing in historically informed performance of Baroque and early music. Born in Rakovník in 1970, he studied at the Prague Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts before continuing his training in Basel and Dresden. In 1991 he founded the Prague-based ensemble Collegium 1704, which he has led as artistic director ever since. Under his direction the group has become one of the leading Czech ensembles for 17th- and 18th-century repertoire, performing regularly at major European festivals and recording extensively for the Accent and Supraphon labels.
