Bio

Soundgarden formed in Seattle in 1984 and became one of the first grunge bands to achieve mainstream success. The quartet—Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd, and Matt Cameron—blended heavy riffs with psychedelic and metal influences, releasing landmark albums such as Superunknown and Badmotorfinger. The band went on hiatus in 1997 and reunited in 2010, continuing to tour and record until Cornell’s death in 2017. Their work is widely credited with helping bring alternative metal and grunge to a global audience.
