Bio
Alessandro Mahmoud, known professionally as Mahmood, is an Italian singer-songwriter born in Milan in 1992 to an Italian mother and Egyptian father. He rose to national prominence after winning the 68th Sanremo Music Festival in 2019 with the song “Soldi”, which also placed second at the Eurovision Song Contest that year. His music blends Mediterranean pop with R&B, trap and electronic elements, often sung in Italian with occasional Arabic phrases. Mahmood’s debut album “Gioventù bruciata” (2019) and follow-up “Ghettolimpo” (2021) both topped the Italian charts; he has collaborated with artists such as Dardust, Sfera Ebbasta and Blanco, with whom he won Sanremo again in 2022. He is signed to Island Records Italy and Universal Music.
