Bio
Alan Menken is an American composer, songwriter, and conductor best known for his work on Disney animated films. Born in New Rochelle, New York, in 1949, he has written the scores for numerous Disney classics including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Pocahontas. His collaborations with lyricists such as Howard Ashman and Tim Rice have produced some of the most recognizable songs in modern cinema. Menken has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including multiple Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and Grammy Awards for his contributions to film music. His work spans both stage and screen, with successful Broadway adaptations of his Disney scores. He continues to compose for new Disney projects and maintains an active presence in musical theater.
