Bio
Green Day formed in 1987 in the East Bay area of California. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool created a punk sound that mixed fast tempos with melodic hooks. Their 1994 album Dookie brought mainstream success and multiple Grammy wins. Subsequent releases like American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown expanded their reach with political themes and rock opera structures. The band has sold over 75 million records worldwide and continues to headline major festivals.
