Marília Mendonça (1995–2021) was a Brazilian singer-songwriter who rose to prominence in the sertanejo and arrocha scenes. Born in Goiás, she began performing as a teenager and quickly became one of the most successful female voices in Brazilian country music, blending heartfelt lyrics with the rhythms of forró and sertanejo universitário. Her breakthrough came with the 2016 hit “Infiel,” which topped Brazilian charts and established her as a leading figure in the genre. Known for her emotive delivery and relatable songwriting, Mendonça released multiple chart-topping albums and singles, earning widespread acclaim and a devoted fanbase across Brazil and beyond. Tragically, Mendonça died in a plane crash in 2021 at the age of 26, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the most influential sertanejo artists of her generation.
