David Crosby (1941–2023) was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist whose distinctive voice and harmonic sensibilities helped define the folk-rock sound of the 1960s and 1970s. He first gained prominence as a founding member of The Byrds, contributing to their signature hits and pioneering the integration of folk, rock, and psychedelia. After leaving The Byrds, Crosby co-founded Crosby, Stills & Nash (later joined by Neil Young), whose self-titled debut album and subsequent releases showcased intricate vocal arrangements and socially conscious songwriting. His solo work, including the album If I Could Only Remember My Name, further established him as a key figure in the singer-songwriter movement. Throughout his career, Crosby remained active as a performer, collaborator, and mentor, influencing generations of musicians with his commitment to harmony, experimentation, and lyrical introspection.
