Mykal Rose is a Jamaican reggae singer born in Kingston in 1957. He first gained prominence as the lead vocalist of the seminal roots reggae group Black Uhuru, with whom he recorded several influential albums in the late 1970s and early 1980s. After leaving the group, Rose pursued a solo career that has spanned more than three decades, releasing numerous albums that blend traditional roots reggae with dub, rocksteady, and ragga styles. His distinctive baritone voice and socially conscious lyrics have made him one of the enduring figures in Jamaican music.
