Omar Lye-Fook, known professionally as Omar, is a British soul singer and songwriter born in Balham, London, in 1968. He emerged in the early 1990s as a key figure in the UK acid jazz scene, blending soul, jazz, and funk influences. His debut album The Music was released in 1992 and featured the hit single "There's Nothing Like This," which reached the UK Top 20. Throughout his career, Omar has collaborated with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, and Common, and has maintained a presence in the neo-soul and UK funky scenes. He continues to release music and perform internationally, recognized for his distinctive voice and songwriting.
