Rhiannon Giddens is an American musician, singer, and songwriter known for her work in Americana, bluegrass, folk, and southern gothic music. She is a founding member of the Grammy-winning string band the Carolina Chocolate Drops, where she performed on banjo, fiddle, and vocals. Giddens has also pursued a solo career, releasing acclaimed albums that explore themes of American history, race, and identity through traditional and original material. In addition to her recording work, she has appeared on Broadway and collaborated with artists across classical, folk, and roots music genres.
