Yusuf / Cat Stevens is an English singer-songwriter born in London in 1948. He first rose to prominence in the late 1960s with introspective folk-rock songs such as "Wild World" and "Father and Son," and achieved global success in the 1970s with albums like Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat. After converting to Islam in 1977, he largely withdrew from the music industry, releasing only occasional recordings under the name Yusuf Islam. In the 2000s he resumed performing and recording, blending his classic catalog with new material that reflects his spiritual outlook.
