Bio
Metallica is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield. The group rose to prominence with their 1986 album Master of Puppets and achieved mainstream success with the self-titled 1991 release known as the Black Album. Their sound blends thrash metal, heavy metal, and hard rock, marked by aggressive riffs, complex song structures, and socially conscious lyrics. Metallica has sold over 125 million records worldwide, won multiple Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. Core members include Hetfield, Ulrich, lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, and bassist Robert Trujillo. Notable projects include the 1991 Black Album, the 1988 EP …And Justice for All, and the 2003 documentary Some Kind of Monster.
