Bio

Indeevar was a prolific Indian lyricist whose work shaped the sound of Bollywood cinema from the 1950s onward. Writing in Hindi and Urdu, he supplied memorable words for hundreds of film songs, collaborating with composers such as Shankar–Jaikishan, Kalyanji–Anandji, and Laxmikant–Pyarelal. His lyrics balanced poetic imagery with everyday language, giving voice to both romantic ballads and socially conscious numbers that remain staples of Indian popular music.
