Bobby Brown is an American R&B singer and songwriter born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 5, 1969. He first rose to prominence as a founding member of the boy band New Edition before launching a successful solo career in the late 1980s. Brown is widely recognized for pioneering the new jack swing genre, blending R&B with hip-hop elements on hits such as "My Prerogative" and "Every Little Step." His debut solo album, King of Stage, and the follow-up Don't Be Cruel established him as a leading figure in contemporary R&B during the era.
