Stacey Kent is an American jazz singer known for her intimate, understated vocal style and multilingual repertoire. Born in South Orange, New Jersey, she has built a career centered on jazz standards, bossa nova, and French chanson, often performing in English, French, and Portuguese. Kent’s recordings frequently feature close collaborations with saxophonist Jim Tomlinson and pianist Art Hirahara, among others. Her albums have earned acclaim for their clarity of phrasing and gentle swing, and she has become a familiar presence on European jazz circuits as well as in the United States. In addition to English-language releases, Kent has recorded several French-language projects that highlight her affinity for chanson and bossa nova traditions.
